How Our Grant is Awarded:

We want you to share with us something you've created that you're passionate about. Simple as that. Show us your latest photos. Got an experimental film you've been working on? Wrote a book of poetry? Any sort of art, any sort of project. Show us something and let us know why you're passionate about it. We'll pick artists whose creative passions excite us too!

Awards:

$1000 Anything Art Grant

2 - $500 Something Art Grant

Archiving:

After each grant call we will keep track of each of our award recipients. This list will keep track of who has won our award, and serve as a place to promote those winners through linking to your personal website.

Copyright:

Artists will always retain copyright of their works. We will use your work in promotional materials to advertise for shows you're involved in, but only with your permission. Specto will never print, distribute, or sell your work without your consent. We also don't utilize clauses to require you to not show your work again for a certain amount of time or anything tricky like that. Remember, we're artists too, so we will always treat your work how we would want someone to treat ours.

Responsibilities of Awarded Artist:

Nothing! At Specto we understand that art is an expensive endeavor. As such we wanted to be able to offer some assistance without limits. We don't expect anything from you. We don't own whatever you may make with your award. We won't hound you about updates. We want you to take our money and run!

Notification of Acceptance:

Specto will notify all artists 10-14 days after application limit has been reached. Once we reach so many applicants we will go through all applications and choose our award winners. Once awards have been dispersed we will open our application once again to start the next round of awards. This is a flexible deadline.

Entry Fees:

Entry fees are $35, this includes up to 3 works. Artists applying to the Anything Art Grant are allowed to submit up to 6 works, if you are interested in submitting 6 works for consideration please simply fill out the application twice, uploading two sets of 3 images.

At Specto we are committed to offering as many opportunities to artists at the least amount of money and time to them. This application fee goes to maintaining and running the gallery, as well as towards new initiatives Specto is undertaking to bring art to more people.
